Description Productivity Tools for Geotechnical Engineers is a book that combines an explanatory text with fully operational software that can be used in practice or for educational purposes. Each of the four chapters describes the analytical basis for an area of calculation commonly performed by geotechnical engineers. Example problems show how the software can be used on problems typical of engineering practice. The areas covered are stress distribution in a linearly elastic half-space, 1D settlement calculation, 1D primary consolidation, and bearing capacity of surface and near-surface foundations. The original programs are in DOS. The latest Windows versions of the software include the following, each of which is also available separately:
WINSTRESS calculates the increment of stresses in a linearly elastic half-space due to surface loads.
WINSAF-I computes one-dimensional settlements by summing the vertical strains along a vertical profile.
WINSAF-TR performs one-dimensional consolidation analysis based on Terzaghi's classical theory.
