Description | Geocrack is a general 2D finite element model of coupled fluid flow/heat transport/rock deformation problems in jointed rock. Flow is in joints, using cubic law for joint permeability. Heat transfer includes transport in fluid and conduction in rock. Elastic rock deformation with non-linear contact in rock joints. Tracer model (with dispersion) is included as part of post-processing. Interactive graphical user interface used to define model and boundary conditions, run analysis, and view results. The model was originally developed to simulate Hot Dry Rock geothermal reservoirs, but is applicable to any single phase fluid flow problem in jointed rock. Geocrack3D is presently under development. A demo version is available. |
