Description | Structural Engineering Library is a collection of calculation sheets covering 44 topics predominantly in structural engineering design, but includes modules for retaining wall design. Cantilevered Retaining Wall: can accept surcharge loads, adjacent footing loads, axial loads on the stem, "screen" wall type loads, an additional lateral load, sloped soil, and soil overburden. The stem may extend above the retained height, and any toe, heel, or key dimension can be specified. Many options are included to modify retained height, resisting moment components, masonry 'n' values, and factors to modify the internal concrete masonry unit tables. Complete calculations give soil pressures, overturning and sliding stability, footing shears and reinforcing requirements, and create tabular summaries of overturning and resisting forces. Up to five different stem sections for each wall, of either masonry or concrete, and with different design values for each. Restrained/Basement Retaining Wall: provides all the capabilities and design calculations of the Cantilevered Retaining Wall program except for adjacent footing loads. For this program, a lateral support is used above the footing, making the wall a propped cantilever. Allows partial base fixity when soil conditions are uncertain effecting possible footing rotation which would cause moment relaxation. Can be used to optimise reinforcing placement to account for the wall's double bending curvature. |
