| Description | Plaxis is a finite element program for plane strain and axisymmetric modelling of soil and rock behaviour. Fully automatic mesh generation, allowing for a virtually infinite number of 6-node and 15-node elements, based on graphical input of soil layers. Elements exist to model walls, plates, anchors, geotextiles and soil-structure interaction. A special tunnel designer exists to create circular and NATM-like tunnels including lining and interface. Ground loss during tunnelling can be simulated. Fully automatic load stepping procedure. Staged construction enables realistic simulation of the construction process. Soil models: Linear elastic, Mohr-Coulomb, Soft-Soil model (Cam-Clay like), Soft-Soil Creep model (Cam-Clay like with time-dependent behaviour), Hardening Soil model (double hardening). Models can contain both drained and undrained layers. For undrained layers excess pore pressures are calculated and elastoplastic consolidation analysis may be carried out. Steady pore pressures may be generated by input of phreatic lines or by groundwater flow analysis. Large deformations may be analysed by means of an Updated Mesh (Lagrangian) calculation. Factor of safety calculation by means of phi-c-reduction. Fully graphical input and output in a Windows environment. A demonstration version is available. |
