Description ABAQUS is a general purpose finite element program, with an emphasis on large nonlinear simulations, that is widely used for geotechnical and structural analysis. Material models include Drucker-Prager, Mohr-Coulomb, Cam-Clay, cap plasticity and jointed rock, as well as models for metals, plastics, composites, concrete, rubbers and foams. All material models can be used in the coupled pore water flow/stress analysis procedures and are available in 2D and 3D. Steady-state and transient analyses can be performed with fully and partially saturated flow in terms of either total or excess pore pressure. Static, dynamic, creep and heat transfer analysis can also be performed. Elements can be added or removed at stages during the simulation to model construction sequences. Contact surfaces can also be included to simulate the interaction of soil and structure. Automatic load incrementation with automatic, adaptive convergence criteria for equilbrium. The system includes interactive, graphical pre and postprocessing modules for the definition of models and interpreation of results. Development and maintenance of the program, as well as support and other services follow procedures that are acredited to ISO 9001.
