Description | SEEP is part of the Oasys Geo suite, but available separately. A finite element program for analysing steady state flow of groundwater in 2D using three node constant velocity elements. Plane flow or radial flow conditions may be analysed. A special facility is available for modelling flow normal to a row of wells. The program permits the specification of a variety of boundary conditions; fixed heads, impermeable boundaries, fixed flow and free discharge. In situations where there is a free water (phreatic) surface within the soil mass, the position of the phreatic surface may be found automatically by the program. The ground may be divided into zones having different permeabilities. Materials with anisotropic permeability may be analysed. Printed output includes the piezometric head (hydraulic potential) at each node, hydraulic gradients and flow velocity within each element, and the total flow quantity. Graphical output includes plotting the mesh, vector quantities and flow nets. The program may be applied to other problems governed by the diffusion equation such as heat flow and electrical conduction. |
