Description | Old Electric Log Advisor (OEA) is designed specifically to aid log analysts in interpreting pre-1960 old electric logs. Provides the calculations and crossplots which can be created with the limited data available with old electric logs. Shale volume can be computed from SP or gamma ray curves. Porosity is calculated from resistivity and microresistivity curves. True resistivity is determined from a series of interactive screens which help discern for which depths the lateralog is valid. These screens help identify oil and water trailers and resistive peaks. Where the lateralog can be used the program finds the proper rule from Hilchie to compute true resistivity. For depths where the lateralog is not valid the long and short normal curves are used to estimate Rt. Several crossplots are available to determine if a shaly sand formation is producible and if hydrocarbons are present in a formation. Water saturation can be computed by Archie's Equation, the Ratio Method, No Porosity Automatic Compensation Method and No Porosity Dual Water Model. A net pay screen summarises all of the results computing net pay to user-specified cutoffs of clay volume, porosity and water saturation. |
