Description | WHPA is an integrated program of analytical and semi-analytical solutions for the groundwater flow equation coupled with pathline tracking. It is designed to assist technical staff with delineation of wellhead protection areas. Developed for the U.S. EPA's Office of Groundwater Protection, the package includes modules for capture zone delineation in a homogeneous aquifer with 2D steady-state flow with options for multiple pumping/injection wells and barrier or stream boundary conditions, based on the model RESSQ, among others. Aquifers may be confined, semi-confined, or unconfined with areal recharge. Also included are modules for Monte Carlo analysis of uncertainty, and a particle-tracking postprocessor for numerical flow models such as MODFLOW and PLASM, using a 2D rectangular grid. The model computes capture zones, pathlines, and hydraulic head distribution. It has extensive on-screen and plotting graphic capabilities. |
