Description | Minitab has a menu interface with interactive command-line option for statistical analysis, graphing and plotting. Macro programming language. Importing/Exporting: direct interface with Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, Quattro Pro, dBase, and text files. Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). Matrix functions. Basic Statistics: Descriptive statistics: mean, median, standard deviation, quartiles, skewness, kurtosis; Graphical descriptive statistics; Confidence intervals, one- and two-sample t-tests, paired t-tests; Cross tabulations; Correlation and covariance matrices; Test of homogeneity of variances; Analysis of Means; Graphical descriptive analysis. Regression Analysis: Simple and multiple linear regression analysis; Model selection using stepwise or best subsets regression; Regression line with confidence and/or prediction bands; Comprehensive summary: analysis of variance, identification of unusual observations, model diagnostics (residuals, leverage, Cook's distance, prediction/confidence intervals for new observations); Ability to specify alpha level for confidence and prediction intervals; Residual plot. Analysis of Variance: General linear model for balanced and unbalanced designs; Multiple factor ANOVA for balanced models, fixed and random effects; Multivariate analysis of variance, Tukey, Fisher, Dunnett, and MCB multiple comparison methods for one-way ANOVA. Multivariate Analysis: Principal component analysis; Linear and quadratic discriminant analysis; Cluster analysis: hierarchical analysis of observations and variables, K-means analysis, dendrogram; Factor analysis: maximum likelihood and principal component methods of factor extraction. Statistical Process Control: Pareto diagram; Fishbone diagram. Designed Experiments. Graphic Plots: boxplot, XY plot, time series plots, contour plot, interval plot (error bars), scatterplot matrix, marginal plot, 3D scatterplot, pie chart. Charts and histogram: bar chart, histogram, variables and attributes control charts, 3D surface plot with hidden surface removal, lighting, positioning, and viewing options. Scatterplot brushing: displays values of user-selected points on plot, points are highlighted in relevant graphs. Time Series Analysis: Univariate Box-Jenkins ARIMA analysis; Trend analysis; Decomposition; Single or double exponential smoothing; Moving average. Non-parametrics: Sign, Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman, Runs. Simulation and Distributions; Random number generator; Density distribution and inverse cumulative distribution functions; Random sampling. |
