Description VAM2D is a 2D finite element model to simulate groundwater flow and contaminant transport in an unconfined or confined aquifer. Saturated and unsaturated modelling. Mass balance is maintained. Hysteresis effects in the water retention curve can be simulated. Boundary conditions include seepage faces, water table, recharge, infiltration, evapotranspiration, pumping and injection wells. Transport of a single contaminant species or a multiple parent-daughter component of a decay chain can be simulated. Models sorption and first order decay. Outputs head, saturation, velocity, concentration data and mass balance. Output can be contoured by VMPLOT.
