Description | ELFEN is a combined finite/discrete element program for the 2D and 3D modelling of jointed rock subjected to quasi-static or dynamic loading conditions. Simulates fracture propogation in both continuum to discontinuum media. Rigid and deformable blocks (or mixed). It has basic FE functionality in addition to both Geomechanical and Geotechnical and has been used to analyse; spud-can insertion for jack-up platforms, performance of expandable sand screens during operational environments, high velocity impacts on reinforced concrete structures, large deformation analyses, fluid/solid coupling, thermal and thermo-mechanical calculations. The software is available on a modular basis and a student Finite Element training tool is also available. |
