Description | Aqua is for groundwater flow and contaminant transport modelling using the Galerkin finite element method. Steady state and transient groundwater flow with inhomogeneous and anisotropic flow conditions. The model can have a large number of pumping and injection wells and areal variation in parameters. Time variation with pumping, injection and infiltration rate is allowed. Boundary conditions may be either prescribed nodal head or prescribed flow. Steady state and transient transport of contaminants and heat with convection, decay, adsorption and velocity dependent dispersion. Boundary conditions may be prescribed nodal concentration or temperature, or prescribed dispersive mass or heat flux. Finite difference system in time using a backward Euler method. Guidelines for selecting mesh size and timestep are given by issuing warnings for large Peclet and Courant numbers. Optional use of upstream weighting in transport calculations. Automatic bandwidth optimisation. |
