Description | SCALE (Structural CALculations Ensemble) is a suite of 500 programs for structural design and detailing. It has four sub-systems: SCALE itself for structural calculations; LUCID for reinforced concrete detailing and steel scheduling; SPADE for steelwork, masonry, timber, component details; TAPE for modifying drawing files created by LUCID or SPADE. Each program takes the form of a text file - written using a notation for control. The user may alter or extend any program, or write his/her own and add them into the ensemble. It includes a foundations module which provides: Notes on pilecaps; Pilecap for 2, 4 or 5 piles - truss analogy; Pilecap for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 piles - bending theory; Earth retaining wall; Pad base; Preliminary sizing of trapezoidal combined base; Preliminary sizing of T-shaped combined base; Preliminary sizing of rectangular combined base; Preliminary design of tied separate bases; Combined base; Beam on elastic foundation with load train; Beam on elastic foundation; Ground beam on elastic piles; Slip circle analysis - Taylor's stability numbers; Slip circle analysis - Swedish method; Safe bearing pressures; Soil pressures due to stacks; Vertical loads on straight bored piles in clay; Large diameter belled piles in clay; Loads on piles in groups; Pile types and characteristics; Sheet retaining structures; Laterally loaded piles; Sheet pile wall - Das; Embedded depths of holding down bolts. |
