Description QuikWall provides procedures for the design of cantilevered retaining walls, including the base and stem. It considers equivalent fluid pressure, sloping back fill, vertical and horizontal surcharge and line loads. Calculations are based on the ACI code using either the Working Stress or Ultimate Strength method. Walls may be constructed of reinforced concrete or concrete block. The heel and toe length may be limited. Loads include equivalent fluid pressure, vertical and horizontal surcharge, vertical line loads, vertical and horizontal line loads and a wind load on the fence. The wall stability is checked by using unfactored loads for the following requirements, and compared with the safety factors or limits set by the user: Wall sliding; Overturning about the footing toe; Maximum bearing pressure on the footing base; Location of resultant and whether or not the resultant is located in the middle third of the base. The program begins the solution process with the minimum heel and toe dimensions specified in the input data and increases the base width one foot until the wall meets the above requirements. Next, the base dimensions are decreased by one foot and the process begins again, except that the base dimensions are increased by one inch until the stability criteria has been satisfied. The result is a retaining wall with an optimal base width determined to the nearest inch.
