Description SPRING is an electronic manual for the study of the human influence on the ground water regime by means of experimental numerical models. Developed as an electronic laboratory, the manual can be used in lectures on water science or as an electronic course. The manual helps study the processes of ground water movement, migration of contaminants, influence of human activity on the ground hydrosphere, with graphic images of the investigated processes. The manual guides the study of methods of computational experiment, both the analytical solutions of initial differential equations in partial derivatives of the second order and the difference Gauss-Seidel method (FDM). It is possible to change the computational parameters to understand the features of FDM. No preliminary knowledge of algorithmic languages is required. The electronic manual was developed in the Joint Center for Additional Education of St.Petersburg University by A S Sennov and A V Yurkov. The first version was used in 1994 at the St.Petersburg State University and at associated colleges. A guidebook with sample problems for teaching was published in 1996 (in Russian).
